What is Health Coaching?

Health Coaching is the use of evidence-based skilful conversation, clinical strategies and interventions along with generally accepted science-backed nutrition strategies to actively and safely engage clients in health behaviour change. This enables them to better self- manage their health, health risk, and chronic health conditions.

Health Coaching differs from traditional nutritional therapies in that Health Coaches work with clients on a longer term basis supporting them through difficulties they are having with the behaviour change necessary to make sustainable health improvements. Health Coaches empower clients to make healthier choices a lifestyle. These long term changes result in optimal wellness, improved health outcomes, lowered health risk and decreased healthcare costs.

The Health Coaches Association aims to support Health Coaches in achieving clinical competency through partnering with relevant and credible trainers and training organizations;
achieving and maintaining continuous professional development requirements; and providing opportunities for networking and community to support individuals and the profession as a whole.
